Tulsa SC President, Barry Williams announced the appointment of Kris Tyrpak to the Tulsa SC Boys coaching staff. Tyrpak will be joining the club and serving as coach for the ECNL-RL Boys 2010s and 2009s. “I am thrilled to welcome Kris Tyrpak to Tulsa SC. Kris had an extensive and very successful professional and collegiate playing career and I am very excited that he will be able to impart his experience of what it takes to become a professional and collegiate player to our boys. Since he retired from playing, he has attacked and been equally as committed to his coaching career as he did at becoming a top player, so we believe he will have an immediate impact on our boys and overall staff.”
Tyrpak comes to Tulsa SC after last serving on the staff at the University of South Florida (USF) as a Volunteer Assistant Coach. At South Florida, Tyrpak was responsible for: running supplemental training sessions for forwards, assisting with scouting reports for upcoming opponents, collaboration and creation of practice, and game plans. Tyrpak while on staff at USF was also serving as head coach for the Tampa Bay United from August 2021 – April 2022, and prior to that he was the Head Coach for Lonestar SC (’03 & ’05 Champions League).
Tyrpak is moving to Tulsa to not only continue his coaching career, but also to be closer to family. His wife is from Tulsa and when asked he stated about moving to Tulsa he stated, “My wife allowed me to move all across the country for years and was very supportive of me fulfilling my dreams of being a professional soccer player, and throughout the years in the off-season, we would come Tulsa to see and visit her family. When we visited, I always liked the city and when the opportunity to coach at Tulsa SC came up, we were both excited for the opportunity to be moving to Tulsa, to be with, and raise our family amongst our extended family and friends.”
Tyrpak played collegiate soccer at Houston Baptist University from 2010 – 2013. On completion of his collegiate carrier, Tyrpak played professionally in the MLS and USL from 2014 – 2020, playing for Chivas USA, Austin Aztex, Swope Park, San Antonio FC, Miami FC, Nashville FC, and Austin Bold FC.
Tulsa SC’s Boys Director of Coaching, Tony Colavecchia said “I am excited that Kris Tyrpak will be joining our ECNL -RL Coaching staff. His past professional playing experience will add a great coaching dimension for our younger players and overall, to our ECNL Coaching Staff. Kris relates well to young players in the youth game, and he will be an inspirational asset to the ECNL -RL players who want to aspire to the highest levels.”
