NPL Announces Dave Simeone as Technical Director

October 3, 2018

NPL Red River is pleased to announce the hiring of David Simeone as the new Technical Director.

The role of the Technical Director position will be to collaborate with NPL Directors in the development and implementation of player development (PDP program), promotion of elite players for higher levels (i.e. ID2, US Soccer National Programs, Collegiate, Professional), coaching development, and technical strategic plans (i.e. player development programs, technical development programming, coaching education activities, technical support, coaching tools, coaching resources.) In this position, Dave will also serve as a valuable resource on all league programming matters.

“An exciting time for our league hiring a proven talent in Dave Simeone. This demonstrates a positive commitment by our league to support our Member Clubs and player development programs to be one of the best in the country,” says City FC Director Antony Penna

At the end of the day, we are very excited with someone like Dave’s credentials coming on board for the benefit of our member clubs with innovative ideas and opening opportunities for participating players. We know he is eager to get started,” says TSC Hurricane Director Jim Tindell  “Investing in this position is aligned with the vision our clubs have for this platform and fits with US Club Soccer’s strategic plans for our league as well."

He has a wide array of collegiate coaching experience through several universities including Georgia, NOVA University, and Midwestern State University.  His credentials include holding a USSF National A License and United Soccer Coaches National Premier Diploma.  Dave brings extensive credentials to the position and a large network that will help springboard our NPL platform to new levels.

Dave also has a long history and experience with the US Soccer National Teams and Youth Program levels. He served on the US Soccer National Women’s and Men’s Coaching staff including previously serving as the U18 Women’s National Team Coach.

Dave also brings skills and experience in the development of Olympic Development Programs as the previous State Director of Coaching for both North Texas State Association and South Texas State Associations.

More recently Dave has been the President of Soccer Development Strategies in which he has led Consulting Initiatives to assess programming, college preparation, staffing, strategic planning, and functionality. He has worked with 15 prominent clubs in the past five years including some nationally known clubs as Sereno Soccer Club, Atlanta Fire United and Weston Soccer Club. Dave was also on staff for Classics Elite US Soccer Development Academy.

“I'm excited about joining the Red River NPL in the capacity of Technical Director. To develop the coordinated programming between the member clubs, the PDP and id2 is unique and has proven to be a tremendously effective platform for combining player development and a pathway forward for players.

I 'm attracted to the attitude and approach of those directors involved in the NPL that I have met to this point and know that they have ambition to grow and develop the competitiveness of the league.

Providing resources, educational opportunities, are an integral part of coaching development at all levels. We want to invest in grassroots coaching because of its long term affect while providing opportunities to coaches who are working in player development and management with aspiring elite performers. I believe education is another way to continually impact the development of the Red River NPL,” says NPL Technical Director Dave Simeone

Dave will begin to get engaged in the technical aspects of the NPL Red River through reaching out to clubs to build relationships, understand the environment and goals while formalizing the PDP programming, coach education and overall Development Standards.

Please join us in welcoming Dave to NPL Red River!
